Snapchat Expands Monetization Options for Creators
Snapchat has introduced new revenue streams for content creators, requiring a minimum of 50,000 followers and meeting specific content production criteria.

Snapchat is expanding its monetization avenues for content creators, introducing new ways for them to earn revenue on the platform. To access these broader earning opportunities, creators must achieve at least 50,000 followers on their public profiles.
The platform also mandates significant engagement and content creation to qualify. Under the Snapchat Monetization Program, creators need to meet specific viewership and Spotlight video view count thresholds within the last 28 days. This program allows creators to earn a share of revenue generated from ads displayed alongside their content.
Additionally, Snapchat offers a "Brand Partnerships" feature, connecting creators with third-party brands. This requires "Snap Star" status, reserved for public figures and popular creators. The "Paid Partnership" toggle further enables creators to tag brand collaborations directly within their content.
These developments build upon Snapchat's earlier monetization efforts, which included the introduction of the Snapcash payment service in 2014. The new, diversified earning models aim to enhance the platform's appeal to creators and strengthen its competitive position against other social media services.
