The plaintiff, a Florida teenager identified by the initials "R.K.C.," had sued Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, and Google for promoting harmful behavioral patterns.
Earlier this week, Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, reached a tentative settlement with the plaintiff. This followed earlier agreements made by TikTok and Google with the same plaintiff. The dismissal of Meta's case leaves the broader addiction lawsuits involving other tech companies to proceed without this specific bellwether trial.
