SocialRoots.ai Launches AI Caller and SMS for Medicaid Member Outreach

Palo Alto, Calif. – SocialRoots.ai has launched a new AI Agentic Caller and SMS outreach capability designed to assist Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and community health organizations in reaching Medicaid members ahead of upcoming renewal deadlines and new federal work and community engagement requirements taking effect January 1, 2027.

The new federal requirements, part of H.R. 1, mandate that most states with expanded Medicaid coverage implement work and community engagement stipulations for working-age adults (ages 19-64) to maintain their coverage. This typically involves demonstrating 80 hours per month of work, school, volunteering, or other qualifying activities. An estimated 18.5 million adults nationally could be affected, with many at risk of losing coverage due to missed paperwork or outdated contact information rather than ineligibility.

Available through SocialRoots.ai's GridSocial platform, the new service facilitates multilingual communication between health centers and members. The AI can verify contact details, check renewal status where data is available, and ask screening questions regarding household changes, income, and work or community engagement activities. Based on responses, it can guide members through the next steps to maintain coverage and identify those who may require additional assistance.

All outreach interactions and outcomes are recorded for health teams to track who has been reached and who needs follow-up. This reduces manual workload on staff, allowing them to focus on more complex cases while improving visibility into member responses and outstanding follow-up needs.
