SodaStream Aims to Eliminate 78 Billion Single-Use Plastic Bottles by 2025
As part of its 'Don't just share, care' campaign for Earth Day, SodaStream has announced ambitious sustainability goals. The company aims to prevent approximately 78 billion single-use plastic bottles globally by 2025.

SodaStream has announced significant sustainability targets coinciding with Earth Day and the launch of its 'Don't just share, care' campaign. The company now aims to prevent approximately 78 billion single-use plastic bottles worldwide by 2025, an increase of 11 billion from previous projections.
The campaign, featuring social media expert Randi Zuckerberg, humorously urges consumers to translate online environmental advocacy into tangible real-world actions. A new companion platform allows users to share their commitment and discover how SodaStream is also advancing its environmental mission.
This pledge is supported by product innovation, including the new DUO soda maker generation, which allows for the use of both glass and plastic reusable bottles, extending plastic bottle reduction beyond the home. Furthermore, starting at the end of the year, all SodaStream syrup bottles will transition to metal, preventing an additional 200 million single-use plastic bottles.
SodaStream also plans to introduce soda makers made from recycled or plant-based materials. The company is increasing its use of solar energy in global production facilities, aiming for 10% by 2022. Products like the 'Easy Starter Kit' and 'DUO Starter Kit' have received Carbon Trust certification for reduced CO2 emissions.
