SoftAtHome enables Orange service to keep French homes online during fiber outages
SoftAtHome's technology powers Orange's new "Reconnexion Flash" service, automatically routing home connections through a customer's smartphone during fiber disruptions.

SoftAtHome, an independent software provider for broadband, Wi-Fi, video, and analytics, has announced that its Always'ON product is powering Orange's new "Reconnexion Flash" service in France. The service aims to maintain internet connectivity for households during fiber line outages.
When a fiber connection is interrupted, such as during maintenance or a fault, the Livebox router detects the outage. It then automatically routes the internet connection through the customer's own smartphone's mobile hotspot. This ensures that all devices within the home continue to operate online without requiring manual reconfiguration or additional hardware.
The service is available for customers equipped with Orange's latest Wi-Fi 7 Livebox models: Livebox 7 Wi-Fi 7 and Livebox S. Activation is performed remotely, eliminating the need for shipping extra equipment or complex user setup. The process involves scanning a QR code displayed on the Livebox, which provides simple instructions for enabling the smartphone's hotspot functionality.
Once set up, the connection via the smartphone hotspot is fast, allowing continued use of devices like laptops, tablets, and smart TVs. When the fiber service is restored, the Livebox automatically redirects traffic back to the fixed line and disconnects the mobile link. Services tied to the fixed line, such as landline phones, resume when connectivity is re-established.
Laurence Thouveny, Customer Experience EVP at Orange, stated that the service simplifies customers' lives during outages by offering a rapid and autonomous solution. Arnaud Bellivier de Prin, CEO of SoftAtHome, added that the Always'ON solution provides added value by helping operators maintain a positive customer experience even during disruptions.
