SoftBank Group has finalized its three-part investment in artificial intelligence firm OpenAI, completing its total commitment of $30 billion. The latest tranche, amounting to $10 billion, was deployed through SoftBank Vision Fund 2, the company stated. This investment is part of OpenAI's ongoing efforts to secure new funding, reportedly targeting at least $30 billion.

The entirety of SoftBank's investment signifies a substantial backing of the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence sector. Following the final investment, SoftBank is expected to hold approximately a 13% stake in OpenAI. The capital for this commitment was sourced from SoftBank's bond issuance, described as the largest corporate high-yield bond offering to date globally.

This investment presents both opportunities and risks for SoftBank. While it provides significant capital to advance its AI strategy, it also increases the company's reliance on credit market conditions and the trajectory of capital-intensive industries.
