SoftBank Invests $200 Million in Construction Robotics Firm Gravis Robotics
Construction automation company Gravis Robotics announced it has secured $200 million in a Series A funding round, with SoftBank acting as the sole investor.

Gravis Robotics, a company focused on construction automation, announced on August 17 that it has closed a $200 million Series A funding round. SoftBank served as the exclusive investor in the round, setting a record for the largest Series A financing in the construction robotics sector.
The company, incubated at ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), aims to improve automation levels in the construction industry with its physical AI software stack. Gravis Robotics intends to bring factory-floor precision to the typically unpredictable environment of civil engineering sites.
Unlike physical AI applications that operate in static settings, Gravis's technology is designed to perceive and adapt to the continuously changing conditions of a construction site. The company utilizes extensive data to train its proprietary models, enabling it to apply precision typically found in manufacturing to civil engineering projects.
SoftBank's investment may be part of a broader strategy, potentially leading to a future acquisition of Gravis Robotics. This targeted financing is viewed as a step towards securing greater equity in the company.
