Softbank reportedly considering acquisition of robotics startup Gravis
Softbank is reportedly considering acquiring Swiss startup Gravis Robotics, which develops autonomous platforms for heavy industrial vehicles. The potential deal could value the company at over $500 million.

Japanese investment giant Softbank is reportedly exploring the acquisition of Swiss startup Gravis Robotics, according to market reports. Gravis Robotics, a spinout from ETH Zurich founded in 2022, specializes in developing autonomous platforms for heavy industrial machinery.
The company's technology is designed to transform conventional earthmoving equipment into robotic systems, targeting sectors such as construction, mining, and agriculture. Gravis Robotics secured $23 million in funding last November from investors including IQ Capital and Holcim.
Sources familiar with the discussions suggest the deal could value Gravis Robotics at more than $500 million, although no final decisions on the transaction's size or structure have been made. This potential acquisition comes amid growing investor interest in Europe's robotics sector, which saw companies raise €1.6 billion in 2025.
Gravis Robotics has not yet publicly commented on the acquisition rumors. The development highlights the increasing focus on automation within heavy industries.
