SoftBank Sells Lenskart Stake Worth ₹2,888 Cr

Global investment firm SoftBank has sold 45 million shares in the Indian eyewear retailer Lenskart, generating approximately ₹2,887.9 crore (about $34.6 million USD). The sale was conducted through its holding entity, SoftBank Vision Fund (SVF) II Lightbulb (Cayman) Ltd.

The shares were offloaded at an average price of ₹641.75 per share, representing a discount of about 3% to the stock's previous closing price. This transaction is SoftBank's second major partial exit from Lenskart since the company's listing on the stock exchange. In June, SoftBank had previously sold shares worth ₹2,873.3 crore.

Societe Generale emerged as the largest single buyer in this transaction, acquiring 11 million shares. Other significant buyers included Goldman Sachs, which purchased 8.43 million shares through two entities, and Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund, which bought 4.77 million shares. HSBC Mutual Fund and several investors linked to US firm Vanguard were also among the notable purchasers.

Lenskart's stock has experienced substantial growth since its debut in November, surging over 69% from its listing price. Year-to-date, the stock has appreciated by approximately 50%. This strong performance has allowed other institutional investors, including KKR and ADIA, to also reduce their holdings in the company.
