Dutch student team Solar Team Eindhoven has developed and presented Stella Juva, a concept vehicle described as the world's first ambulance running entirely on solar energy. The initiative aims to improve medical care accessibility in areas where infrastructure and fuel supply are limited.

The Stella Juva is designed not only for solar-powered mobility but also to operate all onboard medical equipment using solar energy. This concept offers an alternative to traditional ambulances in regions facing challenges with consistent fuel or electricity supply. The vehicle was officially presented on July 21, 2026.

The Eindhoven-based team has a track record in solar vehicle innovation, having won the Cruiser Class of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia four consecutive times. Previous projects include Stella Terra, an off-road solar vehicle that traveled over 1,000 km across Morocco.

Solar Team Eindhoven plans practical field tests of Stella Juva in August 2026, collaborating with local NGOs. These tests are intended to demonstrate the vehicle's capability to support patient care and safely power medical equipment in remote or hard-to-reach locations.
