SolarWinds Network Topology Mapper Adds Microsoft Hyper-V Support
SolarWinds Network Topology Mapper (NTM) 2.0 now supports mapping for Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines, extending its capabilities beyond VMware vSphere.

IT management software provider SolarWinds has released an update to its network topology mapping solution, Network Topology Mapper (NTM) 2.0. The new version expands the software's ability to discover and map virtual environments by adding support for Microsoft's Hyper-V platform, alongside VMware vSphere.
NTM 2.0 enables comprehensive visibility of both physical and virtual network infrastructure. The software automatically discovers network devices such as routers, switches, and servers, creating easily understandable topology diagrams. With the new capabilities, IT professionals can now graphically represent network assets and virtual machines across both VMware and Hyper-V environments.
The update also introduces enhanced customization options. Users can modify device display names, roles, and IP addresses, and manually create device connections on maps. Device credentials can be stored for easier future access. Automatic export of maps to the SolarWinds Orion platform is also supported.
SolarWinds incorporated feedback from its user community, the thwack forum, into the development of these new features. The software's support for various network protocols like SNMP, ICMP, and WMI, along with its reporting capabilities for compliance needs such as PCI, makes it a versatile tool for managing IT infrastructure.
