Solinas Technology Develops Visual Lead Pipe Identification Solution

Solinas Technology is addressing the challenge utilities face in identifying and replacing lead service lines. CEO Marc Bräcken explained that the company's technology allows for the visual identification of lead pipes, reducing the need for either internal inspections or extensive excavation.

Traditionally, utilities have had to rely on unreliable inside-the-house inspections, which only view a portion of the pipe, or conduct vacuum excavation on a property to determine service line material. Solinas' approach offers a more direct visual method.

The company operates in two primary markets: replacing lead service lines and providing infrastructure mapping for utilities. Bräcken highlighted the need for utilities to accurately know the location and material of their existing service lines for effective upgrades.

This technology aims to improve infrastructure reliability and mitigate environmental risks associated with outdated lead piping. Solinas positions itself as a key provider of technological solutions for the water utility sector.
