Solstice Invests $49 Million in Buffalo R&D Expansion

Solstice Advanced Materials plans to invest $49 million to expand its research and development (R&D) operations at its Buffalo, New York site. The company stated the investment will strengthen its ability to develop and commercialize next-generation technologies for high-growth markets.

The expansion will establish a next-generation innovation platform at Solstice's Buffalo research campus. Upgrades will enhance capabilities in refrigerant and thermal management research, improve toxicological testing, and include a laboratory for advanced energy storage materials.

New York State is supporting the investment with up to $1.4 million in performance-based tax credits through the Excelsior Jobs Program. Solstice has committed to creating 12 new full-time positions at the Buffalo facility by June 2027.

The Buffalo site employs approximately 180 scientists, engineers, and support staff. It has been a center for advanced materials innovation since 1955, contributing to over 3,700 patents globally and developing technologies for energy-efficient cooling and advanced manufacturing.
