Chinese company Shandong Runte Refrigeration Technology Co., Ltd. has released a technical advisory detailing common reasons behind the slow temperature drop in cold storage units. The phenomenon is frequently observed and can be attributed to several factors that impede efficient cooling.

Key causes identified include poor insulation and sealing, leading to thermal loss. This can stem from inadequate insulation thickness, low-quality materials, or damage to the insulation layer causing moisture absorption and reduced thermal resistance. Furthermore, leaky seals on doors or walls, along with frequent door openings, allow warm air ingress, slowing the cooling process. High heat loads from recently stored goods or excessive inventory turnover also contribute to longer cooling times.

Another significant factor is the condition of the evaporator. A thick layer of frost or dust accumulation on the evaporator's exterior hinders heat transfer. The presence of air or refrigerant oil within the evaporator tubes can also reduce the effective heat transfer area and efficiency. Additionally, improperly adjusted or blocked expansion valves disrupt the flow of refrigerant, directly impacting the system's cooling capacity.

The company also points to insufficient refrigerant levels in the system and reduced compressor performance due to wear. These issues can lead to a situation where the cooling capacity is insufficient to meet the storage load, thereby slowing or preventing the desired temperature reduction. Runte Refrigeration aims to provide technical solutions for these operational challenges.
