Something’s Awry Productions Used Maxon Software for Snapdragon Short Film

Animation studio Something’s Awry Productions has produced a short film titled "Rush Order," showcasing the use of Maxon's Cinema 4D and ZBrush software. The project aimed to demonstrate future creative capabilities enabled by the upcoming availability of Snapdragon X Series Windows Laptops in spring 2026.

The narrative of "Rush Order" centers on a high-speed delivery chase through city streets. The story and technical requirements significantly influenced the production's design. The studio indicated that a tight five-week deadline led to the adoption of a fast-paced theme, which reduced the need for extensive character animation while maintaining visual flair.

The main character, Lucy, was sculpted in ZBrush using a collage of reference materials. According to a studio representative, a full character turnaround was previously unavailable. The sculpting was completed under a strict deadline, after which the character was transferred to Cinema 4D for adjustments and rigging.

Something’s Awry Productions, known for creating content for clients like Disney, aims to bring a fresh perspective to various projects. The short film is part of a broader narrative universe featuring a driver in a futuristic "Neo-California." The film illustrates how software like Cinema 4D and ZBrush, combined with new hardware such as Snapdragon X laptops, could transform creative workflows and content creation on the go.
