Songwriter Lou Ward Launches 1,000 Acts of Gratitude Challenge
San Diego-based performer Lou Ward has initiated a community-focused campaign for November, encouraging participants to convert expressions of gratitude into tangible acts of service.

Songwriter and U.S. Navy veteran Lou Ward has introduced The Thanksgiving Season, an initiative designed to extend the principles of gratitude throughout the month of November. Central to the program is the '1,000 Acts of Gratitude' challenge, which prompts individuals and community groups to perform specific actions ranging from assisting neighbors to acknowledging veterans.
The initiative organizes the month into four weekly themes: friendship, support for veterans, family traditions, and personal kindness. To support the challenge, Ward has composed five original songs and provided activity guides. Participants are encouraged to document their progress through a digital platform and engage in symbolic activities, such as placing 'promise leaves' on a community gratitude tree to track commitments.
Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley has issued a formal proclamation designating November as a period of gratitude, connection, and service to support the initiative. The program seeks to move beyond traditional holiday celebrations by encouraging consistent, documented acts of community service throughout the month.
