Sonos appears to be preparing to launch a more advanced iteration of its recently introduced Ace headphones. The new Sonos Ace Ultra model is anticipated to feature enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities and could be unveiled as early as September.
The name Sonos Ace Ultra surfaced in filings with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC). These documents suggest the new model will target a premium segment and may be offered in up to five color options, a notable increase from the two colors available for the original Sonos Ace.
Sonos has previously acknowledged that its initial headphone offering lacked sufficient integration with its whole-home audio ecosystem and clear differentiation in the competitive market. The company now seems poised to align new hardware more closely with its broader artificial intelligence strategy.
CEO Tom Conrad has spoken of "conversational computing" and predictive intelligence in the home as key growth opportunities for Sonos. The company has recently expanded its voice control features, adding support for Philips Hue lights and Lutron Caseta smart home devices.
