Sony launches RX10 V superzoom camera with updated sensor

Sony is relaunching its RX10 superzoom camera line, with the newly announced RX10 V marking the first update in nearly nine years. The camera retains the 24-600mm equivalent f/2.4-4 Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 25x zoom lens from its predecessors but introduces significant internal upgrades.

The central improvement is a new 20.1-megapixel 1-inch-type sensor with a stacked design. This allows for continuous burst shooting at up to 30 frames per second without viewfinder blackout, an increase from the 24 fps capability of the previous generation.

These enhancements position the RX10 V for action, sports, and wildlife photography. The camera is scheduled for release in early August with a price tag of $2,299.99.

For context, the RX10 IV was released in 2017 at a price point of $1,700.
