Sony reports 44 percent profit growth in latest quarterly results
Sony recorded a net profit of 449.6 billion yen for the quarter ending September, fueled by strong performance in its gaming division and film box office returns.

Sony’s net profits rose to 449.6 billion yen ($2.84 billion) in the quarter ending September, representing a 44 percent increase over the 311.4 billion yen reported during the same period in the previous year.
The gaming segment, anchored by the PlayStation business, served as a primary driver for the financial results. Alongside the hardware and digital services division, the company’s entertainment sector saw significant gains due to the performance of its film catalog.
Specifically, the film 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' which premiered in July, contributed heavily to the earnings growth. The movie generated $2.52 billion at the global box office, securing its position as one of the highest-grossing films to date.
These results highlight the current importance of Sony's media and interactive entertainment divisions. Moving forward, the company's fiscal stability remains heavily tied to the recurring revenue from PlayStation and the performance of high-budget film projects.
