The patent, initially filed in October, confirms the shared intellectual property between the company and the research institution.
The granted patent covers technology developed by Sophia Space and Caltech for establishing data centers in Earth's orbit. With this patent in hand, the entities plan to further their research and development program aimed at advancing space-based computing infrastructure.
Sophia Space, a portfolio company of Mandala Space Ventures, has not disclosed specific details regarding the patent's technical specifications or potential commercial applications. However, the issuance of the patent marks a significant step in the development of orbital data processing capabilities.
