Sora ja Kallio Heinonen Improves Crushing Process with Metso Digital Services

Sora ja Kallio Heinonen Oy has adopted Metso Oyj's digital services, specifically the Remote IC application and Adaptive Feed Control (AFC) system, to boost the efficiency of its crushing process.

The company reports a 9% increase in throughput and a more stable operation following the implementation. The Adaptive Feed Control system optimizes the crusher load by adjusting the feed in real-time, minimizing unnecessary stops and maximizing crusher utilization. Metso's measurements indicated a 35 kW increase in power consumption for the LT330D crusher and improved overall throughput.

The Remote IC application allows for wireless control of the crushing process directly from an excavator cabin. The system provides real-time data on the crusher cavity and power output, reducing the need for manual inspections and enhancing operator safety. Paavo Heinonen, Owner of Sora ja Kallio Heinonen Oy, noted that previously, adjustments required leaving the cabin, leading to disruptions and increased workload.

Additionally, the company utilizes the Metrics service for collecting and remotely accessing equipment and production data, enabling continuous performance monitoring and data-driven decision-making. These digital services aim to improve process management, reduce downtime, and create a safer working environment without altering the final product.

Sora ja Kallio Heinonen's quarry, in operation since the early 1900s, is located in southwestern Finland, supplying crushed aggregate to customers throughout the region.
