Sorbic Acid Prices Update Q2 2026: France Records Highest Price at USD 4,014/MT

Sorbic acid prices increased substantially in the second quarter of 2026, with France recording the highest price at USD 4,014 per metric ton, according to a market update from IMARC Group. This marks a notable trend in the preservative market.

The report indicated that prices in the USA rose to USD 3,596/MT (+13.31%), China to USD 3,344/MT (+11.33%), Germany to USD 3,906/MT (+12.56%), and India to USD 3,178/MT (+4.45%). These increases were primarily driven by heightened demand from the food and beverage sectors, as manufacturers sought to secure preservative inventories.

Demand was further bolstered by growth in the packaged food and cosmetics segments. Escalating costs for raw materials and energy impacted production expenses, directly influencing the final product price. Logistics expenses and supply chain adjustments also played a role in price formation.

Sorbic acid is a widely utilized preservative in food, beverages, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals to inhibit mold and yeast growth. Global demand for the compound has been expanding, with market projections indicating significant growth over the next decade.
