The South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners, governing body for Memorial Healthcare System, has re-elected its top officers. At the July 22 board meeting, Elizabeth Justen was re-elected as chair, Steven Harvey as vice chair, and Douglas Harrison as secretary/treasurer.
The South Broward Hospital District is a public healthcare system in Florida. Its board provides strategic direction and oversight for Memorial Healthcare System. The board consists of seven commissioners tasked with guiding the hospital system's mission of serving the community with high-quality, accessible healthcare.
Elizabeth Justen, serving for a third consecutive year as chair since 2023, was first appointed to the board in 2020 by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. She brings extensive experience from both nonprofit and for-profit sectors, with expertise in strategic planning and building community partnerships.
Steven Harvey, appointed to the board in 2020, also serves as assistant dean of operations and administration at Nova Southeastern University. Douglas Harrison, an attorney with over 30 years of experience, has been on the board since 2013 and previously served as chair. Other board members include Brad Friedman, Violet Lowrey, Laura Raybin Miller, and Diana Taub.
