South Korea Plans Free AI Services for All Citizens
South Korea's government will launch the "All for AI" initiative in September, offering free generative AI services to all citizens to assist with daily tasks.
The South Korean government is preparing a nationwide initiative to provide free access to generative artificial intelligence (AI) services for all its citizens. The program, named "All for AI," aims to assist individuals with everyday tasks such as booking medical appointments, finding housing, and managing tax matters.
The beta testing for the "All for AI" initiative is scheduled to commence in September, with plans to expand the service's reach later in the year. The initiative is being spearheaded by South Korea's two major telecommunications operators, in collaboration with Kakao, the country's largest consumer internet platform.
The AI services will be integrated with government systems, allowing residents to book doctor's appointments, search for apartments, and receive tax guidance. Small businesses will be able to use the service for calculating taxes and exploring policy benefits, while parents can receive educational content recommendations.
The government intends to support the program by allocating up to 512 NVIDIA B200 chips to companies, helping to offset operational costs. A survey conducted earlier this year indicated that approximately one-quarter of South Koreans are willing to pay for AI services.
