Southwire has officially broken ground on the construction of its newest expansion in Starkville, Mississippi. The investment is expected to create approximately 130 new jobs.

Southwire has officially broken ground on the construction of its newest expansion in Starkville, Mississippi. On Monday, October 1, members of the Southwire and Starkville communities gathered to celebrate the project's commencement.
The expansion project will add approximately 380,000 square feet to the Starkville facility's footprint. The company's investment of over $256 million is expected to create approximately 130 new jobs, reinforcing Southwire's commitment to its employees, customers, and communities.
"This groundbreaking is an exciting milestone for Southwire and for our Starkville team," said Veronica Braker, EVP, Operations. "As we continue investing in our operations, this expansion reflects our commitment to creating a safer, more efficient environment for our team members while strengthening our ability to serve customers."
The expansion and upgrades at the Starkville plant are intended to enhance the work environment and better position the company to serve its customers. Construction is slated to begin in late 2026, with full capacity anticipated by 2028.
