S&P Global Appoints New Chief Legal Officer
S&P Global has appointed Thomas Kim as the company's new Chief Legal Officer, effective October 19, 2026. Current Chief Legal Officer Steve Kemps will retire at the end of the year.

S&P Global has appointed Thomas Kim as the company's new Chief Legal Officer, effective October 19, 2026. Kim will report directly to President and CEO Martina Cheung and will oversee S&P Global's Legal, Government Affairs, Risk, and Compliance functions.
Kim brings over 30 years of experience in legal functions across both public companies and private practice. He previously served as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for Gartner and Thomson Reuters. CEO Martina Cheung highlighted Kim's deep expertise and experience with complex market matters.
Current Chief Legal Officer Steve Kemps is retiring at the end of 2026 but will remain with the company as a special advisor to Cheung to ensure a smooth transition. Cheung thanked Kemps for his contributions in shaping the company's legal framework.
Kim most recently served as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for Gartner starting in 2023. Prior to that, he was the Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary of Thomson Reuters from 2019 to 2023. His background also includes extensive experience in developing business and international roles at Thomson Reuters.
