SpaceX evaluates potential acquisition or partnership with Boost Mobile

SpaceX is currently in discussions with EchoStar regarding a potential deal involving its Boost Mobile subsidiary, according to reports from The Washington Post. The move signals an effort by the aerospace company to leverage existing telecommunications infrastructure to expand the reach of its Starlink satellite service.

Discussions held between SpaceX leadership and EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen center on either a direct acquisition of the budget-friendly carrier or a deal to access its existing network. Boost Mobile currently operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), relying on service agreements with T-Mobile and AT&T to provide coverage for its subscribers.

Integrating SpaceX services into the Boost Mobile infrastructure would require complex negotiations, as any such transition would likely necessitate approval from both T-Mobile and AT&T. Industry analysts note that such a deal would mark a significant shift in SpaceX's operational model, moving the company from satellite provider to a more direct competitor in the consumer mobile market.
