SpaceX moves corporate headquarters to Starbase, Texas
SpaceX is relocating its corporate headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas, citing concerns over California's regulatory and political environment.

SpaceX has officially moved its corporate headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to its Starbase facility in South Texas. Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, cited the regulatory and political landscape in California as the primary driver for the decision to shift operations to a state where the company has increasingly consolidated its footprint.
The relocation follows a multi-year shift for the aerospace firm. Since Musk relocated to Texas in 2020, the company has prioritized the Starship program near the Rio Grande. Starbase has since become the focal point for both manufacturing and launch operations, with employees encouraged to relocate to the area.
In addition to the Starbase site, the company expanded its Texas presence in 2023 by opening a facility east of Austin dedicated to manufacturing Starlink hardware. The headquarters move formalizes a long-term strategic transition away from the company's historical base in Southern California.
