SpaceX share price drops below stock market debut price

The stock price for Elon Musk's rocket and satellite company, SpaceX, has fallen below its initial public offering (IPO) price. The share price closed at $132.62 on Wednesday, trading below its debut price of $135 set in October.

SpaceX's IPO made Musk the world's first trillionaire. The stock has now declined 41% from its peak value shortly after its debut. Investors who purchased shares around the time of the IPO may face losses if the price remains at or below current levels.

Despite a volatile period for technology stocks, SpaceX has experienced a notable downturn. On Wednesday, its stock price dropped over 2%, significantly more than the Nasdaq index's 0.2% decline. The stock has been volatile since trading began just over a month ago.

Analysts suggest a lack of recent catalysts to justify the initial investor enthusiasm. SpaceX's primary business involves manufacturing and launching rockets and its Starlink satellite internet service. The company also acquired Musk's AI startup xAI earlier this year. SpaceX is scheduled to release its first public earnings report in August.
