SpaceX shares fall after revealing significant AI and data center spending plans

Shares of SpaceX experienced a decline on Wednesday after Elon Musk outlined ambitious plans for significant investment in the company's artificial intelligence and rocket operations, focusing on data center development. The announcement appeared to unnerve investors.

Earlier on Tuesday, SpaceX had reported its first earnings, surpassing analyst expectations with quarterly revenues of $7.8 billion, a 92 percent increase year-over-year. The company also posted a net loss of approximately $541 million, which was better than the estimated $2.12 billion loss.

However, the stock fell 10 percent in early trading after the company disclosed capital expenditures of nearly $16 billion directed towards AI initiatives. This spending represents a doubling from the previous quarter and significantly exceeds Wall Street's projections. SpaceX indicated that expenditures would continue at similar levels for at least the next two quarters.
