Sparkassen Cards Introduce New Design After 15 Years

S-Payment GmbH has begun issuing redesigned Sparkassen-Cards and Sparkassen-CreditCards, marking the first visual update in 15 years. The new design aims for clarity and improved readability.

As of July 1, 2026, initial Sparkassen banks are distributing the updated cards to customers. Cardholders will receive the new designs automatically during standard card issuance processes, such as when opening a new account or when their current card expires.

The new standard design features a clean layout prominently displaying the iconic Sparkassen S-logo on the front. The reverse side consolidates essential information, including girocard and contactless logos, international acceptance marks, the 16-digit card number, IBAN, security code, and expiration date. The traditional signature strip has been removed.

Updated personalization methods are being implemented. Debit cards will transition from laser technology to new methods, while credit cards will adopt new embossing techniques. These changes are intended to enhance card quality and customer experience by improving information legibility.
