Speculation surrounds Samsung's forthcoming Galaxy S27 smartphone series, which is expected to include four distinct models. According to details shared by technology outlet WinFuture, the higher-end Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are slated to feature a new image sensor for their ultrawide camera capabilities.
The report suggests these flagship devices will adopt Sony's IMX855 sensor. This sensor is specified as having a 1/2.55-inch optical format with a 0.7µm pixel size. For context, the previous model, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, employed Samsung's own ISOCELL JN3 sensor for its ultrawide lens.
The internal codenames for the Galaxy S27 series are reportedly "NM1" for the Galaxy S27, "NM2" for the Galaxy S27+, "NM3" for the Galaxy S27 Pro, and "NM4" for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The "NM" prefix is believed to stand for "Next Miracle," a successor to the "Miracle" series.
Beyond the Pro and Ultra variants, lower-tier models are also expected to receive upgrades, including a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with autofocus using Samsung's own sensor. The Galaxy S27 and S27+ are anticipated to house a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a telephoto camera of unspecified resolution and zoom capabilities.
