Speedo launches smart module for swim goggles

Speedo has launched a removable smart module designed to attach to its Vanquisher goggles. The new Speedo iQ system aims to analyze a swimmer's performance across all four primary strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

The system utilizes swim-specific sensors to track head movements in the water, time breaths, and measure distance per stroke. Unlike some competing smart goggles that feature integrated displays, Speedo's iQ module does not have a built-in screen.

Instead, the iQ module automatically transmits data to a companion app, allowing swimmers to review their performance metrics after they finish swimming. The company notes that the module is designed for easy attachment and removal from the goggles.

This technology provides swimmers with a tool to monitor and potentially improve their technique and efficiency by offering detailed performance data without the visual distraction of an on-goggle display.
