Sports Medicine Congress Convenes in Munich
Sports medicine experts from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland gather in Munich for the 24th GOTS congress to discuss the management of sports injuries.

The 24th annual congress of the Gesellschaft für Orthopädisch-Traumatologische Sportmedizin (GOTS) will take place in Munich from June 19-21, 2009. The event is expected to draw approximately 800 sports medicine professionals from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Key themes at the congress will include hip and groin pain in athletes, osteotomy for correcting leg axis malalignment to preserve athletic function, and patellar instability. Experts will present on these topics, covering both conservative and surgical treatment approaches.
Further sessions will focus on running-related injuries, emerging sports, and common joint issues such as knee, shoulder, and foot injuries. The congress aims to provide a comprehensive overview of diagnosing, treating, and preventing sports-related ailments.
According to Congress President Philipp Lobenhoffer, GOTS unites specialists in sports medicine, orthopedics, trauma surgery, physiotherapy, and sports science to advance optimal sports medicine in German-speaking countries. All involved GOTS members contribute voluntarily, ensuring that content selection prioritizes quality and relevance without industrial influence.
