Spotify Billionaire's Body Scan Startup Launches in the U.S.

Neko Health, a health technology company co-founded by Spotify billionaire Daniel Ek, has expanded its operations to the United States with the opening of its first clinic in New York. The Swedish-founded startup focuses on utilizing advanced scanning technology for preventative healthcare.

The company, co-founded by Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, employs technology to screen for issues related to blood, skin, and metabolism. Neko Health has already secured nearly $1 billion in total funding and reports a global waitlist exceeding 300,000 individuals.

Neko Health's entry into the U.S. market aims to address perceived gaps in the American healthcare system, particularly concerning the accessibility and utilization of preventative care. Investor Farooq Abbasi of Preface Ventures highlighted the company's mission to make health diagnostics more accessible and affordable.

The one-hour scan offered by Neko Health is priced at $500 and is not currently covered by insurance. However, the company notes that it may qualify as an eligible expense for Health Savings Accounts (HSA). Abbasi emphasized the goal of making preventative health services cost-effective and widely available.
