Spotify Car Thing Revived by Third-Party Firmware
A developer has released the Mira project, restoring functionality to the Spotify Car Thing device after Spotify ended official support.

Developer MustakimK has released the Mira project, enabling the Spotify Car Thing car display device to be revived after its official support was discontinued.
Spotify originally launched the Car Thing in 2021, aiming to provide music playback and voice control for older vehicles. Due to poor sales, production ceased in 2022, and Spotify officially stopped supporting the device in July 2024, rendering it unusable.
Mira is a third-party firmware that can be flashed onto the Car Thing using a USB-C cable. Once installed, the device reportedly regains its previous capabilities, including voice commands, album art and lyric display, gesture navigation, and podcast transcript viewing.
The release of Mira offers users a way to continue using their Spotify Car Thing devices, bypassing the limitations imposed by the discontinuation of Spotify's official support.
