Spotify Users Can Now Ask Siri to Play Music Without Specifying App
Spotify users on iOS 27 can now request music and podcasts via Siri without needing to say 'on Spotify,' streamlining hands-free listening.

Spotify users with iPhones running iOS 27 can now request music and other content through Siri without having to explicitly state "on Spotify." This integration aims to simplify the voice command experience for hands-free listening.
The updated functionality allows Siri to learn a user's preferred music application. If a user frequently uses Spotify, Siri will automatically route audio requests to the Spotify app. This means users can simply ask for a specific track, album, podcast, or even broader requests like "play workout music" or "play my DJ."
Spotify states that removing the need for the app's name will make interactions feel more natural. Users can focus on their desired content rather than the precise phrasing required to engage their preferred service. Siri's capabilities are also expanded to include requesting personalized recommendations, resuming podcasts, and searching the user's library.
This feature is available globally for users with an iPhone 15 Pro or later, outside of the EU, provided Apple Intelligence is enabled in settings. The company anticipates this enhancement will improve user engagement and accessibility through voice commands.
