Sprout Adds Bluetooth, USB-C, and Streaming to Older iPods
Sprout Pi and Sprout Pico are replacement motherboards for older iPods, adding modern features like Bluetooth, USB-C, and Wi-Fi to the devices.
Sprout has introduced the Sprout Pi and Sprout Pico, motherboard replacement kits designed to upgrade older iPod models with modern connectivity and features. These kits add Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB-C ports, and microSD card slots to the music players.
The upgrades also enable FLAC audio playback and allow for audio output over USB for wired headsets, in addition to the original 3.5mm headphone jack. Bluetooth connectivity facilitates pairing with wireless headphones or speakers.
With Wi-Fi support, the upgraded iPods can stream audio using Google Cast and AirPlay protocols. Sprout has designed these kits for installation without soldering, aiming to make the upgrade process more accessible for iPod enthusiasts looking to enhance their devices' capabilities.
