Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) has made Squadron 42 available on the Steam store, with a projected release date in the second quarter of 2027. The game is a narrative-driven single-player campaign within the Star Citizen universe, aiming to deliver a cinematic space combat and storytelling experience.
Players will enlist as a rookie in the UEE Navy, embarking on a story-focused single-player space adventure where they become central to combat operations. The experience involves living and working alongside a star-studded crew, fighting enemies across various locations from fighter cockpits to capital ships and frontier outposts.
Initial system requirements posted on Steam specify a minimum of Windows 11, a quad-core CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a graphics card with 8GB of VRAM. The game will also require 150GB of storage space.
Squadron 42 will feature a simplified Chinese interface. This single-player title is a component of CIG's ongoing Star Citizen project, a long-term endeavor in space simulation gaming.
