StackGen Acquires Shipyard to Enhance Autonomous Operations

StackGen, a company focused on autonomous operations, announced on September 29, 2026, its acquisition of Shipyard, a platform for ephemeral environments. This acquisition is expected to bolster StackGen's capabilities in providing automated operational solutions for software development.

The acquired Shipyard product, which generates a full-stack environment for each code change and removes it upon merge, will continue to operate under the name "Shipyard by StackGen." The engineering and customer teams from Shipyard will join StackGen. The company believes this integration will enhance the quality and security of software development processes, particularly as AI agents contribute an increasing amount of code.

StackGen states that the proportion of code written by AI agents is steadily growing. Through this acquisition, Shipyard's real-world testing environments will be integrated into StackGen's "Autonomous Operations Factory" platform. This integration will enable secure testing of code changes before they are deployed to production environments.

"Agents are proposing more changes to production every week, and enterprises want proof before they let those changes run," said StackGen CEO Sachin Aggarwal.
