Standard Chartered Expands Partnership With LMAX Group for Digital Asset Custody

Standard Chartered has expanded its partnership with LMAX Group, providing regulated digital asset custody services via its Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) branch and Standard Chartered Luxembourg S.A. This move strengthens the firms' institutional digital asset infrastructure across Europe and the Middle East.

LMAX Group has become the first client to join Standard Chartered Luxembourg's custody platform, following the bank's authorization under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) in June 2026. This authorization allows the bank to offer digital asset services within the EU.

The new custody arrangement builds upon a collaboration announced in July 2026. During that initiative, Standard Chartered and LMAX Group executed what they stated were the industry's first live digital asset prime brokerage trades. This prior effort combined Standard Chartered's banking, credit, and custody capabilities with LMAX Group's regulated institutional trading infrastructure.

The dual custody appointments in Luxembourg and the DIFC provide LMAX Group with access to regulated custody infrastructure in two major financial centers. The firms are also exploring off-exchange custody solutions aimed at enhancing security and efficiency in digital asset markets.
