Standard Chartered Facilitates Hana Bank's Digital Capital Markets Debut
Standard Chartered has structured and distributed Hana Bank's USD 100 million digital bond, the first Digitally Native Note from a Korean bank on Euroclear's D-FMI platform.

Standard Chartered has acted as the Sole Structuring Bank, Sole Lead Manager, and Sole Dealer for Hana Bank's USD 100 million, five-year floating-rate digital bond. This issuance marks the first Digitally Native Note from a Korean bank to be placed on Euroclear's Digital Financial Market Infrastructure (D-FMI) platform.
The transaction also achieved the distinction of being the first digital bond listed on SGX Group, representing a significant step for institutional digital debt markets in Asia. Standard Chartered managed the entire process, from structuring and execution to distribution, under Hana Bank's existing Global Medium Term Note program.
By leveraging Euroclear's D-FMI, the issuance merges blockchain-based issuance with established market infrastructure and investor access. Institutional investors can manage these notes through their existing Euroclear accounts and conventional trading systems, avoiding the need for separate digital-only environments. The structure also facilitates same-day (T+0) settlement.
For Hana Bank, this digital issuance extends its funding activities into blockchain-supported capital markets without deviating from its established GMTN framework. Standard Chartered highlighted that this transaction brings another major bank treasury into the digital bond market, creating a new reference point for broader institutional adoption in Asia.
