China's Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) has announced the release of a new standard detailing the technical requirements for 5G private networks in remote healthcare. The standard, titled "Technical Requirements and Test Methods for 5G Private Networks for Remote Healthcare" (YD/T 7031-2026), was jointly developed by key entities including China Mobile, CAICT, PLA General Hospital, and Huawei.

The new standard leverages the core advantages of 5G technology, such as high bandwidth, low latency, and high reliability. These capabilities enable 5G private networks to support demanding telemedical applications, including high-definition remote multidisciplinary consultations and remote diagnostic imaging. The standard also facilitates real-time, continuous monitoring of critical patients' vital signs and supports remote surgical services through integration with technologies like medical robots.

Within its specifications, the standard addresses the technical requirements and testing methods for 5G private remote healthcare networks, covering aspects from terminal equipment, radio access network, transport network, core network, to network performance and security. It is designed to guide the design, R&D, construction, and testing of such networks.

CAICT has previously supported the development of 5G networks in hospital settings by providing network testing services for several prominent hospitals in China. The institute intends to continue promoting the standard's widespread adoption and offer technical support to healthcare institutions for the deployment of 5G private networks for remote healthcare.
