Starlight Investments tops out The Mercantile residential project in Basildon

Starlight Investments has completed the structural topping out of The Mercantile, a large-scale build-to-rent development in Basildon. The project consists of three mid-rise residential buildings scheduled to provide 492 units, alongside 16,000 square feet of designated commercial and retail space.

The development is situated near the Basildon railway station and features amenities including gym facilities, co-working spaces, and a rooftop garden. Local officials note the project is part of a broader regeneration initiative aimed at increasing housing density and stimulating economic activity within the town centre.

According to Starlight’s UK residential leadership, the project serves as a key component of their regional growth strategy. Starlight currently manages approximately 4,000 homes in the UK, with the firm aiming to scale its portfolio to over 10,000 units in the coming years.
