AI for Recycling Plant Data: London-based Greyparrot raised £20.3 million ($27 million) in Series B funding. The company employs AI-powered camera systems and computer vision on conveyor belts in recycling plants to identify materials in real-time. This data helps improve sorting efficiency and compliance with regulations. Greyparrot's technology is deployed in over 20 countries, having analyzed more than a trillion waste objects. The new capital will support expansion into North America and Europe and its goal to divert over 1 million tons of waste by 2030.
Underground Robotics Beyond GPS: Australian startup Emesent secured $17 million in new funding, including a $10 million equity round and a $7 million venture debt facility. The company develops an AI platform enabling robots to navigate autonomously in GPS-denied environments like mines and tunnels. Its Hovermap hardware and Cortex AI platform create detailed 3D maps of hazardous areas, with technology deployed at over 200 mine sites globally. The funding aims to scale manufacturing and enhance AI capabilities.
AI and Sound Therapy for Congestion: San Francisco-based medtech startup SoundHealth closed an oversubscribed $12.25 million Series A round. The company creates FDA-cleared, non-invasive devices using AI and acoustic resonance therapy to treat congestion and improve sleep without drugs. Its Sonu band personalizes sound waves based on user anatomy, while the Spatial Sleep device aids faster and longer sleep.
Waste-to-Fuel Conversion: Another company addressing waste, Forge Industries, raised $3.85 million. The Nashville-based startup focuses on converting non-recyclable garbage into industrial fuel. Specifics on the technology or funding round details were not immediately available.
