Startup Funding Rounds: AI-Focused Companies Secure Major Investments
US startups raised substantial funding this past week, with many AI companies securing significant rounds. Fireworks AI led the pack, raising $1.5 billion.

US-based startups secured significant venture capital funding in the week of July 11-17, with many AI-focused companies closing substantial rounds. The largest financing round of the week went to enterprise AI startup Fireworks AI, which raised $1.5 billion.
Fireworks AI, a developer of tools for enterprises to specialize general AI models using their own data, closed a $1.505 billion Series D round. The funding was led by Atreides Management, Index Ventures, and TCV, valuing the San Mateo, California-based company at $17.5 billion.
Other notable funding rounds included a $650 million Series D for meal and delivery provider Wonder, a $400 million Series C for life sciences AI startup Chai Discovery, and $300 million for robotics company Walden Robotics. The latter emerged from stealth with this significant funding.
AI and automation continued to attract investment, with drone developer Brinc raising $125 million and construction automation firm TerraFirma securing $100 million. Enterprise AI infrastructure software provider Spectro Cloud also announced a Series D round exceeding $100 million.
In total, the week saw over $3 billion invested across the top 10 disclosed rounds. These included defense tech firm Singularity ($80 million), fintech startup Flex ($70 million), and AI policy platform State Affairs ($70 million), demonstrating continued investor confidence in technology sectors.
