Startup Integrates Home Utilities with Redesigned Appliances and AI

Startup Everyday^ has introduced a new approach to essential home utilities, launching an integrated infrastructure system that combines heating, cooling, water heating, and air purification into single units. The company aims to replace unattractive, overlooked appliances with aesthetically pleasing and intelligent devices. The initial product, Air^, is a heat-pump-connected heating, cooling, and air purification unit priced at approximately $2,280 and will first be available in the European market.

According to co-founder Morten Meisner-Jensen, home utilities are often neglected despite representing significant energy and cost expenditure, as well as contributing to climate impact. Everyday^ seeks to address this by re-imagining these systems with a focus on design and AI. The company has developed customizable units with interchangeable material surfaces that integrate with interior furnishings, while AI optimizes performance based on household routines.

The founders, with backgrounds in design and innovation including IKEA's former innovation lab Space10, argue that current home utilities are often clunky and lack user-centric design. Everyday^ aims to create appliances that feel like intentional components of modern living spaces rather than industrial afterthoughts. The company has partnered with architectural firm BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) to ensure the designs are integrated seamlessly into home architecture.

An accompanying AI-powered operating system learns user behaviors to optimize the system's operation, aiming to save homeowners money and reduce environmental impact. Everyday^'s mission is to accelerate the clean energy transition through design and technology, focusing on the home as a key area for improvement. The company plans to expand its product line to include hot water, energy storage, and broader home energy systems.
