Steam Hardware Survey July 2026: RTX 3060 Tops List, 16GB VRAM Usage Surges

Valve's latest Steam Hardware and Software Survey for July 2026 indicates that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 continues to be the most prevalent graphics card among users. A key trend highlighted is the substantial rise in the adoption of 16GB of VRAM, suggesting a shift towards higher-memory graphics cards.

The survey data reveals Nvidia's continued dominance in the GPU market, holding a 72.77% share. While the RTX 3060 maintained its top position with 3.71% of users, newer cards like the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti are showing notable growth. Apple's M2 chip also saw an increase in usage.

In terms of operating systems, Windows 11 64-bit leads with 70.26%, showing a slight increase, while Windows 10 64-bit usage declined. Regarding system RAM, 16GB remains the most common configuration at 40.97%, but 32GB is gaining traction. Processor trends show an increase in 8-core CPUs, surpassing 6-core processors as the most common.

Display resolutions indicate that 1920x1080 (Full HD) is still the most common, but 2560x1440 (QHD) is steadily increasing its market share, potentially becoming the new standard. The significant jump in 16GB VRAM usage, now exceeding 8GB, points to a rapid adoption of graphics cards with larger memory capacities.
