Valve has rolled out the SteamOS 3.8.28 Beta update, introducing a fix specifically for AMD discrete graphics cards.

The update targets machines like the Steam Machine that utilize AMD GPUs. Its primary focus is to resolve a problem where gaming performance could decline after these graphics cards resumed from a sleep state.

Notably, the SteamOS 3.9.1 Preview also included sleep-related fixes for RDNA1 and RDNA2 graphics cards. Valve has not clarified if the fix in 3.8.28 is linked to these earlier issues, suggesting they might stem from different bugs but share the common symptom of affecting performance post-sleep.
