Stellantis Recalls Over 140,000 Diesel Cars Due to Potential Engine Damage

Automaker Stellantis is recalling approximately 141,700 diesel vehicles in Germany, including models from Peugeot, Opel, Citroën, DS, and Fiat. The recall addresses a potential issue with the camshaft chain in the 1.5-liter BlueHDi diesel engine, manufactured between October 2017 and January 2023.

The company is voluntarily initiating this recall due to concerns that the camshaft chain may wear prematurely. In severe cases, this wear could lead to engine damage. This action is not listed in the German Federal Motor Transport Authority's (KBA) official recall database, with each Stellantis brand managing its own recall code.

Affected vehicle owners will be contacted directly by Stellantis via mail or email starting in July. The company plans to prioritize inspections for older vehicles, as they are considered to be at higher risk. A dedicated online platform has been established by Stellantis for owners to check if their vehicle is included in the recall.

The inspection and any necessary replacement of the camshaft chain will be conducted free of charge. Stellantis urges all owners of affected vehicles to schedule a service appointment at their dealerships.
